How much weight can you lose on Eat Stop Eat?

If you choose to have 2 fast days per week then you should lose around 1 lb per week, providing you don't try to make up for the missing calories on the other days.

If you have a lot of weight to lose (in the obese category for instance) then you could switch to 3 fast days per week, or even alternate day fasting. This would allow for faster weight loss but will obviously be tougher to follow.

Sometimes losing weight at a slower pace is more sustainable than crash dieting.

Intermittent fasting guide

If you are looking for a good guide to get your started on intermittent fasting then you need to read Brad Pilon's Eat Stop Eat.

As well as going into scientific detail on why intermittent fasting is something most people should do he also breaks it down to simple steps, making Eat Stop Eat a great intermittent fasting guide.

Using Brad's version of intermittent fasting even means you don't need to wake up and eat nothing all day - for example you would only fast between 2pm till 2pm the next day. Here you would be able to eat breakfast the first day and dinner the second. Of course Brad also gives different options in his book, so there's something for everyone.

What Is Eat Stop Eat

What Is Eat Stop Eat

To sum up Eat Stop Eat in a few words I'd say it is taking a break from food for 24 hours.

For example you would stop eating at a defined time, eg 2pm, then not eat anything till 2pm the next day. The start/stop times are up to you - they don't really matter. What does matter is that you don't take in any calories during those 24 hours, then afterwards you just go back to how you would eat normally (that means no rewarding yourself or pigging out).

If you do this twice a week it will easily take 3000-6000 calories from your diet, resulting in almost guaranteed fat loss.

But isn't not eating too hard?

Well if you want to lose fat you are going to have to embrace hunger. There is really no way to lose fat without feeling at least a little discomfort. Your body is eating itself after all. There are different way to approach this - eat less every day and suffer hunger every day, or the Eat Stop Eat fasting approach of compressing the hunger into 2 days per week.

Fasting is easier than you might think.

It turns out that hunger comes and go's in waves. Initially if you have never fasted before then you will find it a big of a struggle. Your body has no idea what's going on. It doesn't know that you will be eating in 24 hours. But once you get a few fast days under your belt it really does get pretty easy. You will still get the off pang of hunger, but it will quickly pass.

Embrace calorie-free drinks

Make your fast days easier by drinking black coffee & tea as well as plenty of water. You will feel very thirsty as you normally get a surprising amount of water from food. So keep hydrated! Fluids also help the hunger pangs to quickly vanish.

Eat Stop Eat PDF

Eat Stop Eat PDF

Eat Stop Eat is a new approach to dieting - using intermittent fasting to help you lose weight delivered as PDF format.

It is researched and written by Brad Pilon, a Canadian nutritionist.

Rather than dieting every day of the week Brad recommends fasting twice a week for 24 hours then eating normal (within limits) the rest of the week. Doing so creates a calorie deficit so the weight just falls off.

Can Fasting help you lose weight?

Yes! Fasting means you take in less calories than you burn so it's actually the easiest and simplest to lose weight.

Fasting for health

As well as the fat loss benefits it turns out that fasting also has lots of health benefits. Brad Pilon goes into detail showing all the latest research on the health related benefits to fasting in Eat Stop Eat.
